The ‘super Thursday’ for the Spanish delegation at the Paris Olympics has lived up to expectations. The joys came early and came in double form with a jump for Spain in the medal table after the bronze won by Álvaro Martín and the silver by María Pérez in the men’s and women’s 20-kilometre walk events. Two medals practically simultaneously and the sentencing of another whose medal is still unknown: that of Enmanuel Reyes Pla in boxing. ‘The Prophet’ advanced to the semi-finals in his fight against the Belgian Schelstraete and, therefore, has a medal guaranteed.
The afternoon session saw the third Spanish celebration of the day after Pau Echaniz won bronze in the slalom canoeing event. The canoeist thus achieved a feat that had eluded his stepmother and Spanish Olympic legend Maialen Chourraut in Paris. The total balance of the ‘super Thursday’ was thus set at one silver medal and two bronze medals, pending the announcement of which Enmanuel Reyes will win.
Three medals have already been awarded and one more is on the way to be added to the one Fran Garrigós won last Saturday in judo. It was the first, the one that opened the floodgates in a Spanish key. The one that pointed the way for a delegation that wants to continue collecting joys.

The Olympic medal table is led by China, the Asian giant and always a powerhouse at the Olympics; ahead of France, the host and second due to having fewer golds than China; and Japan, currently third in the Paris 2024 medal table.
