How many medals has he won and where does he rank? – El Financiero

Medals rain down for Mexico! The 67 Mexican para-athletes who came to France to give their all in the sporting event are finishing their participation in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and bringing back gold, silver and bronze medals.

From the opening of the Paralympics on August 28 to their closing on September 8, Paris hosted 12 days of competition with 4,400 athletes from 185 committees competing in 22 sports.

Updated medal table: How many medals did Mexico win at the 2024 Paralympic Games?

While Mexico won five medals and placed 65th in the medal table at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the country won 17 medals at the Paralympics, placing it 30th.

The discipline in which the country stood out was para swimming, with a total of 7 medals, followed by athletics with 6, and powerlifting and taekwondo with 2 medals each.

The delegation was looking to surpass the 22 medals won in Tokyo 2020 that gave it 20th place in the medal table. Although this was not achieved, Mexico’s head of mission at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Israel Benítez Morteo, highlighted that the balance is positive:

“The medals from Tokyo were not improved, but the level has risen impressively. The reclassifications have also helped in some cases, in other cases the level has been stronger, but the Mexicans have responded well and para swimming is the one that has given us the most pride, but without leaving behind all those who won a diploma, there were many Paralympic finalists and that is a great motivation because we know that in the future Mexico will be a power in Paralympic sport.”
