How many doses of Sinovac vaccines did companies buy in Colombia – Companies – Economy

This Monday, President Iván Duque delivered the first package of 1.5 million vaccines from Sinovac to the private sector. To the workers of the more than 5,000 companies that joined the initiative ‘Companies for vaccination ‘, a project led by Andi, will begin to vaccinate them from this week.

In total, the purchase of 2.5 million doses of the Chinese laboratory that, when operating in a double dose scheme, will serve to immunize 1.25 million workers in the coming weeks.

The application will be in charge of the compensation funds and IPS contracted through the initiative. These will be in charge of scheduling the appointment of employees to come to the vaccination points.

For example, comfame will apply about 190,000 doses in Antioquia, which will be used in 500 companies that have acquired the biological for their employees. In addition to this, the compensation fund also acquired 6,400 doses for its employees.

“We are going to apply these private vaccines in a coordinated manner with the companies at the points that logistically allow us, intra-company or at Comfama headquarters. The goal is to apply as many vaccines as possible in the shortest time possible, ”said Gustavo Escobar Ramírez, head of health at Comfama.

Acquired doses

Dozens of companies have officially communicated that they are part of this initiative, as is the case of Ecopetrol, Bancolombia, BBVA, Grupo Argos or McDonald’s, among others. Also last week they assured that EPM, Yanbal, Claro, Nestlé and the Titán Plaza shopping center are within the program.

In the last hours, several of them announced the number of doses they bought for their workers. For example, the Amarilo construction company affirmed that the vaccine will be applied to 100 percent of its employees, for which they have invested about 180 million pesos; Frontera Energy will protect its 800 employees; and the sugar mills Pichichi, Mayagüez, Sancarlos, Carmelita, Risaralda, Del Occidente, Incauca and Providencia, as well as Cenicaña, acquired 34,284 doses to inoculate 17,142 of their collaborators.

The multinational of snacks Mondelēz He also announced that he joined this initiative and will acquire 1,236 doses to immunize 618 employees, third parties and contractors that are part of the company in the country.

“At Mondelēz we started conversations with the Government through the process led by Andi so that the private sector could acquire vaccines for its collaborators. As a result of this management, we are happy to inform that we are part of the first group of companies that managed to buy the doses to immunize their employees, “said the president of the company in Colombia, Julián Solarte.

For its part, Postobón will vaccinate its 10,500 employees. The investment of this acquisition reaches close to 3,000 million pesos and includes related companies that are part of the food and beverage sector of the Ardila Lülle Organization.

“Our priority is the health and life of each of the Colombians and one of the most relevant ways to achieve this is the vaccination process of our collaborators,” said Miguel Fernando Escobar, President of Postobón.

Alquería announced that it purchased 8,300 doses to vaccinate 4,150 people. It will not only extend the benefit to its employees, but also to distribution and transportation contractors who have a direct contract with the company.

Banco Finandina BIC also announced the purchase of 1,023 vaccines (two doses) for all its employees nationwide, of which 94 percent are millennials; 63 percent of all employees are women and of this last percentage, 30 percent are mothers head of the family.

Another company that confirmed the number of vaccines purchased was the Bolívar Davivienda Group, which announced the purchase of 22,409 vaccines for its officials.

This acquisition will allow a little more than 11,000 employees to be vaccinated, taking into account that Sinovac’s vaccination scheme consists of two doses.
