How long will Ukrainian migrants be able to live and work in Poland?

Since the beginning of the war, more than a million Ukrainians have left for Poland.

On March 8, the Polish government held a meeting on Ukrainian refugees. This is reported by the Informant with reference to the Informant Money.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that it was decided:

  • adopted a law on assistance to Ukrainian citizens. According to it, Ukrainians can legally live and work in the country for 18 months. This period can be extended for another year and a half;
  • Poles who accept Ukrainians will receive 40 zlotys per day ($8.7). This support will be valid for two months;
  • Ukrainians will not have priority access to public services;
  • local governments will be provided with the financial support needed to carry out other tasks, for example, to give refugees access to medicine or education;

“Refugees from Ukraine should know that they are safe during the war, that they can live with us as usual,” said Mateusz Morawiecki.
