How is the situation in Lower Franconia?

The number of corona patients undergoing intensive medical treatment has been rising sharply nationwide since mid-March. Experts are therefore sounding the alarm: They are warning of a dramatic situation and calling for a hard lockdown to relieve the hospitals. Otherwise, it is feared, intensive care beds could soon become scarce. Is that also a threat in the region?

There will be noisy throughout Bavaria on Sunday (April 11th, as of 11 a.m.) Intensivregister 758 Covid patients treated as inpatients. A total of 466 intensive care beds are still free and 2,879 occupied, around every fifth of them with a corona patient. However, as the situation in intensive care units can change every hour, these numbers are only a snapshot.

According to the intensive care register, 54 intensive care beds are still free in Lower Franconia on Sunday

This also applies in Lower Franconia. According to the register on Sunday, 54 intensive care beds are free and 408 occupied. The proportion of Covid patients is between nine and 33 percent. That means: the situation in the region is not yet as tense as it was at the turn of the year. However, the number of corona cases is increasing in some clinics and in some cases predictable operations have to be postponed.

The intensive location in Schweinfurt

For example in the Schweinfurt Leopoldina Hospital. There were 26 Covid patients there on Friday, ten of them in the intensive care unit. “Movable invasive interventions are currently limited to what is absolutely medically necessary,” says spokesman Christian Kirchner. Urgent operations would take place and emergency patients would of course be cared for without restrictions. It is important: If a serious illness is suspected, patients should always come to the hospital immediately? despite the increasing number of corona cases.

The intensive situation in the Würzburg clinics

They are also available at the Würzburg Mitte Clinic. There was an increase especially in Holy Week, says Dr. Matthias Held, lung specialist and medical director. As of Friday, 16 Covid sufferers were being treated in the clinic, six of them intensively. However, there is no need to restrict predictable operations yet.

The Würzburg University Hospital reported exactly the same number of corona patients. There were eight of the sick in the intensive care unit. The situation is stable, it is said. And: Plannable interventions currently do not have to be reduced to the same extent as a few months ago.

Rhön-Klinikum: More younger patients in the last few weeks

The number of Covid patients is also currently increasing in the Rhön Clinic and the Main-Spessart Clinic. On Friday, 18 corona cases were treated as inpatients in Bad Neustadt, seven of them intensive. And: “In the last few weeks we have been able to observe that younger patients are also getting sick,” says spokeswoman Nina Knauer.

The location in Main-Spessart, Kitzingen and Bad Kissingen

There were 20 Covid sufferers in the Main-Spessart Clinic, one of them in the intensive care unit. Planned operations are still carried out here.

In contrast, the number of patients in the Kitzinger Land Clinic and in the Helios St. Elisabeth Hospital in Bad Kissingen has hardly changed. In the past two weeks, an average of between twelve and 16 corona cases have been treated in the spa town ?? thus the occupancy rate of the hospital was “consistently high”.
