How Iran’s War Against Israel Could Impact Indonesia’s BUMN: Minister Erick Thohir’s Warning

BUMN Minister Erick Thohir revealed that Iran’s war against Israel would affect BUMN. This war itself has the potential to raise world oil prices.

Erick explained that his party had asked BUMN leaders to test the current situation. He also asked BUMN directors to review operational expenditure (opex) or operating costs and capital expenditure (capex) or capital expenditure.

He then said that the BUMNs affected by the war included the mining and electricity sectors.

“I asked for a stress test for all BUMNs, I asked for a review of their capex and opex, if you ask which BUMNs, of course some BUMNs will be affected, such as mining BUMNs, electricity BUMNs such as PLN and others,” he said at the Jakarta BUMN Ministry on Wednesday (17/4/2024).

He also said that war could affect PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk.

“It could be a victory as well,” said Erick.

Erick reminded all the leaders about the current world conditions through a Whatsapp message. He asked the board of directors to investigate several things from capex, opex to BUMN’s debt problems. He also asked the board of directors to provide a report in a week or so.

“Everybody, every managing director, every finance director, business risk to remind you and I want them to try to make a report in 1-2 weeks,” he said .
