Living space is scarce. Membership in a cooperative can therefore be interesting for prospective tenants. However, the shares cost money. A federal funding program that was reorganized in October 2022 makes financing easier: private individuals who buy shares in a cooperative for self-used living space can use the KfW loan 134 up to an amount of 100,000 euros. This gives them an interest rate reduction and a 15 percent repayment bonus that they do not have to repay.
