TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Currently, smartphones have become a primary need to be able to support everyone’s daily productivity.
If a smartphone is damaged, it will have a direct impact on daily activities, as well as expenses for repair or component replacement costs.
Usually, warranty official from the manufacturer only guarantees smartphone damage due to factory defects and software problems. Meanwhile, damage due to negligence of smartphone users is not guaranteed.
“According to our data, 70 percent smartphone damage occurs on the screen and negligence is the dominant cause and the cost of repairing the screen is at least 30 percent of the purchase price of the smartphone,” said Vice President of Partnerships Qoala, Charles Yulivan in a written statement, Saturday (14/8/2021).
This fact encourages Qoala to develop smartphone protection so that repair or replacement costs for damage that occur to smartphones can be minimized by delegating the risk to insurance companies.

One of the latest efforts made Qoala in distributing this insurance product is by cooperating with the e-commerce platform Shopee.
This collaboration also involves PT Asuransi MSIG Indonesia and insurance broker PT Mitra Jasa Pratama.

“We offer protection for every purchase of a new smartphone brand Xiaomi, Samsung and Infinix through the Shopee application.
The premium price is only Rp. 40,000 for protection for one year, with protection benefits of up to Rp. 3 million,” he said.

Charles added, in order to celebrate Indonesian Independence Day, there is a discount of 17 percent for smartphone protection until August 22, 2021.
This smartphone protection insurance is part of Qoala presenting micro-insurance allows all levels of society to have insurance as a protection mechanism for potential risks faced in the future.
“Micro insurance has simple characteristics, the registration and claim process is not complicated, and the price is affordable,” he said.
