It is 8:30 p.m. this Friday, September 15 when Gilles Viannez closes Le Daring. He leaves for his car. Arriving on Avenue de la République, he heard someone running behind him. He doesn’t pay attention, thinking it’s a jogger.
But the runner lunges at him, sticks a knife in his back and puts his other arm around his neck. He then orders in her ear: “Give me your watch!” Give me your watch! »
He scares away the attacker
The 61-year-old restaurateur then reacted instinctively. He sends a headbutt backwards which hits his attacker and makes him let go. He turns towards the thug: a man in his thirties, dressed all in black and wearing a cap. Gilles Viannez throws punches, his opponent does not insist and runs away. The restaurateur thinks he saw another man, who may have been keeping watch, fleeing at the same time.
The restaurateur then takes his car and goes to Catherine Viannez, his ex-wife and colleague. “He comes to my house because I look after his little dog during the day,” she explains. “Once he parked in front of my house, the adrenaline kicked in. He called me, I was able to pick it up. It was only then that he realized he had been stabbed. »

The spleen and an affected artery
The sixty-year-old is being treated as an absolute emergency. “The spleen and an artery were affected. He must remain in the hospital for at least three more days. We are waiting for him to come out to file a complaint,” explains Catherine Viannez.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time that the restaurateur has been the victim of violence. In 2015, he was attacked in the context of a neighborhood conflict.

The restaurateur relies on her restaurant’s video surveillance cameras to find the attackers. “They were able to pass onto our terrace, which is filmed, and they could have spotted the brand watch on Gilles’ wrist. »
Today, the brewery remains open only in the morning. “He’s the one who does the closing. So until he leaves the hospital, I prefer that we stay closed in the afternoon. »
