Traditionally, lamb is served at the table on St. George’s Day. In one of the butcher’s shops the lamb shoulder is offered for BGN 22.60 per kilogram, and the lamb leg – for BGN 24.60.
The manager of the store assures that the price will not increase for the holiday. The reason – it is high enough at the moment and there is no increased demand.
The blue stamp on the meat guarantees that it originates in Bulgaria, BTV reported.
Most often people ask if it is possible to offer them frozen meat as fresh, commented Bogomil Nikolov of the Active Consumers Association.
Meat that has been frozen has a characteristic sheen, he warned.
“Besides, we can also judge by the color – the older the meat, the darker it is,” Nikolov added.
