The Five-O has definitively closed its doors this Saturday, July 24, M6 offering the final episode of the series, broadcast Friday, April 3, 2020 across the Atlantic on the CBS channel. This is the 22nd episode of season 10 of Hawaii 5-0. Either the last opus of his successful detective series, the title of which has a double origin. How Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin), Danny Williams (Scott Caan) and co bow out?
Danny in danger of death
Exhausted by the rhythm of the filming of the detective series of which he is one of the main performers, Alex O’Loughlin had hinted that he would leave her at the end of Season 8 before retracting and re-stacking for two more seasons. But this time, it’s the end of the adventure Hawaii 5-0. It concluded with an episode titled Aloha which can be translated as hello or… goodbye! In this case, it is rather the time to say goodbye to the whole team after 10 years of investigations on the archipelago.
Rather conventional farewells but which should appeal to unconditional fans of the series … and romantics. Let’s recap the facts from the previous episode: Danny was kidnapped by Daiyu Mei, the deceased’s wife Wu Fat, in order to force Steve to give him the precious cryptogram sent by his mother. Which indicated the coordinates of the fictitious grave of Doris, who had staged her death to protect her family. This tomb housed millions of dollars, namely the legacy of Steve, who thus learns the whole truth about his parents.
All’s well That ends well
If he manages to escape the vigilance of the guards, Danny gets shot while fleeing. Fortunately, his teammates arrive in time to take him to the hospital but his injuries are serious … Not enough, however, to bring down the attractive investigator, who has seen others! What is in danger of ending it? The departure of his best friend Steve who, after having arrested Daiyu Mei and solved the enigma of his past, decided to quit the 5-0 and return his badge… It’s time for him “to find peace” as he tells his teammate in a moving scene, where he promises her it’s just a goodbye. After saying goodbye – necessarily moving – to the rest of his team, Steve takes the plane where he finds Catherine (Michelle Borth), that he never stopped loving… Conventional, we tell you!
Hope for a sequel?
Still … this finale paves the way for a possible sequel, or an event season, as Peter Lenkov, the series creator and showrunner, told TV Line : “Even the channel said ‘Who knows? Maybe we’ll bring the show back one day. “It’s a pretty funny idea, and I think it’s a possibility. Anything is possible today, especially with streaming platforms. Who knows, that could be an event season or something. That will always be a possibility, and I know that personally I will keep hope. ” In the meantime, fans will be able to find the actors in other series.
