Mario Iorgulescu did not make any gesture to brake at the time of the accident he caused and had the accelerator pedal pressed to the floor. A few days after he was sentenced by the first court to 15 years and 8 months in prison, the judge’s reasoning also appeared, from which it appears that Iorgulescu drove chaotically and did not at any time try to avoid the accident in which a man died. The judges mentioned that it was not the first time that Iorgulescu got behind the wheel drunk and drugged.

Alexandra Dinu, Digi24 journalist: In the reasoning of the court that sentenced Mario Iorgulescu, the way he drove on the evening of the accident is shown.
From the expertise done on the car, it emerged that he drove that evening at speeds that oscillated between 140 and 160 km/h.
Also from the same expertise was the fact that Mario Iorgulescu did not press the brake pedal when he saw the car he hit, on the contrary, he continued to press the accelerator pedal. It was 143 km/h and the pedal was pressed 100%.
In the motivation it is also shown that Mario Iorgulescu was angry on the night of the accident, his girlfriend was at a club in the north of the capital and would have refused to leave after he had asked her to do so. Iorgulescu tried to calm down, walking for 2 hours around the capital. He was on the phone with his girlfriend minutes before the impact.
Mario Iorgulescu was sentenced to 15 years and 8 months in prison with execution, and he should also pay 100,000 euros in damages to the victim’s family.
This is the decision in the first instance.
Mario Iorgulescu left the country shortly after the accident and is still in Italy.
