How does Horizon Zero Dawn run on PS5?

It’s been a week since we learned the release date of the long-awaited PlayStation exclusivity Horizon Forbidden West, which appeared quite unexpectedly at Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live. In addition, the developers at Guerrilla Games had one more announcement. At numerous requests from fans, they released a patch for the first part (with the subtitle Zero Dawn), which added support for 60 frames per second. And how is the game on the new console? This was tested by experts from the Digital Foundry editorial office.

Horizon Zero Dawn runs on PS5 in backward compatibility mode, so no improvements in ray tracing or DualSens support can be expected. The patch simply unlocks the frame rate to 60 FPS, and as Digital Foundry analysis has shown, it does great. During the play, they revealed only one slight drop in the opening cutscene, otherwise it really is stable 60 FPS. The game runs in the original graphics mode from the PS4 Pro (which is now selected automatically and can no longer be changed), and is thus preserved 4K resolution. Unfortunately, that also means that PS5 owners don’t get the best graphics, The PC version is still one step ahead in this.

Except for a few graphic glitches, however, this is a perfectly done job. So if you haven’t tried Horizon Zero Dawn yet, you have the best chance.

The second part, subtitled Forbidden West, will be released on February 18, 2022, and pre-orders were launched yesterday with the announcement that the game will include Czech subtitles.
