Because our country currently has a limited number of vaccines, four risk groups were defined at the end of July. It’s about:
- Men who have sex with men who are HIV+ or who are receiving HIV-Prep therapy and who have had at least two STDs in the last year.
- Male and transgender sex workers.
- People with immune disorders and so are at high risk of infection.
- Laboratory personnel growing the virus.
So far, 300 to 400 vaccines have been put in place. The remaining doses are divided among the four risk groups. Minister of Health Frank Vandenbroucke (Vooruit) hopes that the target group will be “vaccinated as much as possible by the end of next week”.
In the autumn, our country should receive 30,000 extra doses, then the target group can be expanded if necessary.
