How do you recognize endometriosis? Click mobile

Considered the second major cause of infertility, endometriosis is one of the gynecological diseases diagnosed more and more often lately. It is good to know the signs that indicate the presence of the disease, but also how it can be treated.

“Endometriosis is a benign gynecological condition of women during ovarian hormone activity (not found before puberty and very rare after menopause). The disease consists in the growth of the tissue that covers the uterine cavity, in the uterine wall, in the cervix, in the ovary, in the fallopian tubes, peritoneum, abdominal wall, bladder, rectum, intestines and vagina “, explains Dr. Adrian Viorel Văduva, primary care physician obstetrics-gynecology, doctor of medicine at the Polisano clinic in Bucharest.

Severe menstrual cramps, among the symptoms

In many women with endometriosis, there are no specific symptoms. In others, the disease is manifested by inflammation, severe pain in the lower abdomen, but also by bleeding that occurs between menstrual cycles.

Among the signs that may indicate the presence of the condition are menstrual pain (with irradiation to the lumbar or rectal area, accompanied by bloating, vomiting and appearing at the end of menstruation or 2-3 days after stopping it), but also the feeling of discomfort during intercourse.

“Abnormal uterine bleeding (heavy menstruation) may also occur, but also occur during urination and defecation. These can be caused by both disease and ovarian dysfunction. And infertility can announce the presence of this condition “, adds the doctor Adrian Viorel Văduva.
