During this training Catherine De Bruyn addresses the much-needed attention to diversity in the teaching practice of teachers. The diversity in a student group requires a diversity-conscious approach that is aimed at offering students optimal opportunities to develop. This training focuses on the interaction of teachers with students: How do you create a safe learning environment in which students with a diverse background can feel good? How can you be vigilant for prejudices and stereotypes, possible bias? How do you discuss sensitive topics? What is the best way to guide heterogeneous groups and group work? How to set clear and high expectations for all students? All these questions will be answered by Katrien De Bruyn, education support officer at DOWA and expert on diversity-aware teaching at Ghent University.
