The stock market was avoided by Romanians for a long time, but the pandemic changed the attitude related to investments. The number of those who invested in the domestic capital market increased and reached a historical maximum of 133,000 investors at the end of 2022, according to data from the Investor Compensation Fund (FCI), cited by BVB. By comparison, at the end of 2021 there were almost 82,000 investors, a 62% increase in a single year.
Investing in the stock market often comes with an adrenaline rush, and the last month has amply demonstrated it. The bankruptcy of Silicon Valley Bank and the takeover of Credit Suisse by Swiss rival UBS tightened funding conditions in the market and tested the nerves of investors in global stock markets.
How affordable are stock market investments, how do we relate to such moments of uncertainty and how much should we panic in such situations? In this new episode of Panorama’s “Inflation Education” campaign, we look at how we can multiply our money head on, but also how we relate to all the uncertainties related to such an investment.
