how did Ukraine and the EU change and what does Russia have to do with it

In Ukraine, the prices of European gas, taking into account delivery, reached a record high of UAH 16.2 per cubic meter. Among the reasons for this rise in price is the artificial limitation of supplies from Russia.

This follows from the trading data published Ukrainian Energy Exchange (UEB). So, just a few months ago, the cost of gas was about UAH 9.4 per cubic meter. In August, the average cost has already reached 15.7 hryvnia, and the latest purchases cost 16.2 hryvnia per cubic meter.

How the prices for blue fuel in Ukraine have changedWhy have gas prices skyrocketed?

The main culprit behind the rise in prices is Russia’s Gazprom. On the eve of the launch of Nord Stream 2, it artificially lowers transit volumes, as a result, European countries cannot fully fill their storage facilities.

And Russia is also deliberately giving up additional capacities. As a result, the situation is getting worse every week.

How will this affect tariffs?

For those who use the annual gas tariff, the situation will not change. Their value will remain the same. But the monthly cost will rise. In addition, it should be borne in mind that this also affects the costs of teplokommunenergo. These are the companies that buy blue fuel to generate heat and hot water. And if they spend more, then the tariffs for their utilities will also rise.

Recall the President Biden decided to make concessions to Germany and Russia and refused to impose sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 operator. In fact, this makes it possible to complete and launch the gas pipeline.

Germany also has different positions on the gas pipeline. For example, the “greens” who, after the new elections, may receive a large representation in the German parliament, are categorically against the new project.

Recall, as previously wrote OBOZREVATEL, the launch of Nord Stream 2 will lead to the fact that Ukraine can eventually completely lose the status of a gas transit country. In this case, Russia will not only stop paying for the delivery of blue fuel, but will no longer be dependent on the Ukrainian gas transportation system.
