Costa Rica they still hope to qualify for the round of 16 World Cup 2022. Here’s how Costa Rica can progress to the knockout stage.
Costa Rica are currently in third place with three points worth, losing out on goal difference to second-placed Japan.
In the last match, Costa Rica will meet Germany while in another match Spain will duel against Japan.
Below are the requirements for Costa Rica to qualify for the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup against Germany:
1. Win
The victory over Germany will automatically lead Costa Rica to qualify for the round of 16. Costa Rica need not depend on Spain-Japan results if they can beat Germany.
Costa Rica could even secure group status by beating Germany if the other match between Spain and Japan ends in a draw.

2. Series
A draw could also take Costa Rica to the round of 16. However, this was accompanied by the condition that Spain could defeat Japan.
Under these conditions, Spain is in first place with seven points, followed by Costa Rica with four points in second place.
If Spain-Japan and Costa Rica-Germany duels both end in a draw, Costa Rica will be eliminated as they lose to Japan on goal difference.
