Romelu Lukaku proposed in the fight Chelsea vs Lille in the first leg of the Champions League last 16. Manager Thomas Tuchel explain why.
Chelsea vs Lille takes place at Stamford Bridge in the first leg Champions League round of 16, Wednesday (23/2) early morning WIB. The Blues won 2-0.
Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic scored two goals for the hosts. Winning is a good investment Chelsea to look at the second leg later, on 17 March.
In that match, the centre-forward Chelsea, Romelu Lukaku sits on the bench. Kai Havertz replaces Lukaku.
Lukaku was not sent down until the final whistle sounded. What was the reason Tuchel left the Belgian player?
“This is a moment where you don’t have to look at the number of touches on the pitch. In this match, we took a step back (to reserve it-red),” explained Tuchel as quoted from Mirror.
It could be, Thomas Tuchel want to cool off first Romelu Lukaku. Remembering last weekend, the 28-year-old player slumped when Chelsea faced Crystal Palace by only making seven touches during 90 minutes without making a shot.
“It was a joint decision to recommend it,” Tuchel explained.
Romelu Lukaku have not come out of the pit of adversity, which has only scored five goals from 17 matches in the Premier League. The last four games have no goals.
Thomas Tuchel closing, he will continue to trust Lukaku to play. While hoping, the tap of the former Inter player’s goals can flow again.
“Lukaku always has the opportunity to play,” he concluded.
