The turbulent relationship between Clint Eastwood and Sondra Locke
1976, Clint Eastwood made the western Josey Wales Outlaw, one of his 10 best films. On the set, he fell in love with the young actress Sondra Locke, who died in 2018. It was the start of a new love story for the cowboy. From then on, they shared the poster in five films: Showdown, Soft, Hard and Crazy, Bronco Billy, It’s Going to Hit and Inspector Harry Returns. But in life, the two lovers maintain a stormy and ambivalent relationship which will end in bitterness, with a series of legal battles which will continue to fuel the news… “Sondra Locke accuses Eastwood of having blocked him in her career as a director”, recalls the Arte documentary in particular. This story lasts 14 years and definitely focuses on the first marriage of Clint Eastwood (who was not always a faithful husband) to Maggie Johnson. Their divorce was definitively pronounced in 1984. From their union were born Kyle Eastwood, now a musician, and Alison Eastwood who starred with her father in The Mule, in 2018.
