After six months of mourning his death in private, the mother and partner of the fallen US Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick are now letting the world know exactly what they think of senators and former US President. Who continue to ignore the death of their loved one as a result. of the insurrection of January 6.
Last week, Gladys Sicknick and Sandra Garza, Brian Sicknick’s longtime partner, went door-to-door on Capitol Hill to pressure Republican senators to support the creation of an independent commission to investigate deadly riots that killed five people and 140 police officers who tried to defend the Capitol were wounded. The Senate rejected that bill.
Today, in a new interview with CBS News, the two women held back little in their criticism of lawmakers.
“I am displeased that the Republican senators, who decided to vote no. It’s spit in the face for Brian, it’s spit in the face for all the officers who were there that day, ”Garza said. He also said that senators who did not even appear for the vote committed a “breach of duty.”
The two also criticized former President Donald Trump, twice charged, for ignoring the death of Officer Sicknick.
“I knew Brian was devoted to him, and not once did he approach me, Gladys, or even send a letter of condolences. He did absolutely nothing. And so, you know, it’s very disturbing, you know, that it isn’t, and I would actually meet him. I would like. I would meet him, ”he said.
When asked what he would say to the former president, Garza said he would ask why he never approached.
“And I would ask him why he failed all law enforcement agencies that day. You know, he has a chance to change this. You know, if it’s really going to back blue, then do it with your actions, ”Garza said.
Sicknick added: “He just watched it on TV like it was a soap opera. I do not get it. How can you be so nonchalant?
