Alder Lake without a “K” was officially released on January 4, when reviews appeared. Mostly focused on the Core i5-12400, which Intel chose as a key product. In some countries, processors appeared on the shelves as early as January 3 (the first working day of this year), so some articles were out in advance. So more than two weeks have passed since the release, so we can see how the news is doing in retail sales. Of course for those vendors who publish ongoing statistics.
One of them is Amazon:
The first place is held by Ryzen 5 5600X, the second its APU-clone with integrated graphics. This is followed by an octave, twelve core and then the first blue box, but with a Core i5 two generations old – 14nm Comet Lake (cores Skylake). This is followed by an eight-core APU with graphics, followed by the top AMD model. Then two generations of the old low-end Core i3-10100F (again Comet Lake). From the generation Alder Lake only the Core i9-12900KF made it into the top ten. If we were looking for the Core i5-12400, we would have to break into 37th place in sales statistics, ie three generations of old 9000 models in the company. Another 65W model Alder Lake did not make it into the hundreds of the best-selling in Amazon’s statistics.
CZC statistics start similarly, with Ryzena in the first two places. The Core i5-11400F from the generation took third place Rocket Lake and two ranks below lies the Core i5-10400F of the generation Comet Lake. In the top ten are all models of the Ryzen 5000 generation with the exception of the Ryzen 9 5950X and one Alder Lake, this time Core i5-12600K. None of the 65W models made it to the rankings, although the CZC Core i5-12400 and Core i5-12400F have in stock.
The situation on Alza is a bit different, where the first two places are occupied by two generations of the old Comet Lake models: the Core i5-10400F and the Core i3-10100F. Both APUs follow, Ryzen 5 5600 and then Comet Lake again. From the current generation of Alder Lake, two models made it into the top ten: the Core i7-12700K and the Core i9-12900K, but in both cases they are last year’s 125W processors; of the 65W new products, there is not one in the top ten again (and it does not even reach the top ten of Intel’s best-selling processors). Again, it is worth adding that the Core i5-12400 and Core i5-12400F are available on stock in Alza – not only those, all 7 65W models in stock are included in the price list.
