Due to high unemployment in New York City, the need for food banks has increased. In fact, the entire country is seeing an increase in the demand for food aid.
But like many businesses, these centers struggle with disruptions in the supply of food and workers. Almost 40 percent of the delivery sites in New York City have closed. There are people who go to banks, perhaps for the first time, and regular customers who have to deal with changes in hours and locations.
