How Anne Hathaway’s ‘Barbie’ Almost Happened and Why She Isn’t Bitter

This year, fans will be familiar with Margot Robbie’s version of Barbie, as she almost looks like she came straight out of Barbie’s world. But did you know that the role of ‘Barbie’ almost belonged to legendary actress Anne Hathaway and she recently opened up on a podcast about how ‘lucky’ Barbie was? The version she showed didn’t happen.

She almost got the role of Barbie once. Because previously Sony had plans to make a Barbie movie. It will have comedian Amy Schumer play the role, but with many things that don’t fit together. Both due to scheduling conflicts and creativity. So they looked for a new actor, landing Anne Hathaway, and intended to release it in June 2018, but the project was shelved and was passed on to Warner Bros. became Barbie Margot as we have seen.

“The phenomenon that Greta and Margot created was an absolute hit. Think about it, it’s so powerful. A lot of people expected it. There’s a lot of emotion going on in there. And what if it’s a version that isn’t? I think it’s a good thing my Barbie didn’t happen.”

She also praised Greta and Margot’s films for being both feminine and cool. Especially since they are female producers in the industry. It was considered an inspiration and opened new doors for the Hollywood industry. She said, “Margot is amazing. As a movie person and a woman in Hollywood, I am so proud of her. I am very excited about these. I believe that if I did It would be different. But I really believe That this version is the best version possible. I love seeing women do things so perfectly, it’s undeniable. that they set a new standard for the industry.”

She also shared that she has no regrets that her Barbie didn’t happen and that her career opportunities didn’t continue. which she commented that “You have to learn to let things go. The right role should be paired with the right person. Sometimes it may or may not be you. And when it doesn’t happen, just focus on believing in the role that will continue in the future. It sounds corny, but you have to really appreciate it.”
