Have a drink in a speakeasy
The concept of a speakeasy bar dates back to the 1920s, at the time of Prohibition in the United States when it was forbidden to consume alcohol. Many illegal bars then sprang up, these are the famous so-called “speakeasy” bars. See the Bushwick murals
It is one of the neighborhoods of Brooklyn, east of Williamsburg. Bushwick is a true open-air museum with a large number of street art works, all very photogenic. With its multitude of streets covered in frescoes, Bushwick is really very different from Manhattan and worth a visit. Great selfies guaranteed!
Take to the skies on a rooftop
New York has a large number of rooftops and can be found in most areas of the city. The rooftop of With Hotel in the district of Queens is not the best known but it has the advantage of not being overrun by tourists. The view is exceptional in the early evening: you can admire the Queens Borough bridge which connects Queens to Manhattan, the Empire State Building, the Manhattan skyline, the new towers on the south side of Central Park. Note: you don’t need to be a hotel guest to access it.
Feast on a lobster sandwich in Brooklyn
Head to Red Hook in Brooklyn, a neighborhood that looks like a fishing village on the banks of the Hudson River, for a meal at Brooklyn Crab. You can get there by subway but also by ferry from the southern tip of Manhattan. In this restaurant, we eat a lot of fish, seafood and of course crab… But it is especially for the lobster roll, a lobster sandwich, that the establishment is popular. This specialty from New England is unanimous among customers!
Find the building from the Friends series
Even if several sequences were shot in Hollywood studios, the building of the Friends series is indeed in New York in the district of Greenwich Village. This is where the apartment is located, which was reconstructed in the studios for the famous series. Fans of the series will easily recognize the facade of the building that appears very often in Friends.
