The film is driven by an eight-year-old girl’s desire to go to Sabarimala. Directed by Vishnu Shashi Shankar, the film is scripted by Abhilash Pillai. Malikappuram is a film which tells the story of an eight year old girl named Kalyani and her superhero Ayyappan.

The director of Malikappuram Vishnu Sasishankar is the son of director Sasishankar who made films like ‘Narayam’, ‘Kunjikunan’ and ‘Mr Butler’. The film is produced by Priya Venu and Neeta Pinto under the Kavya Film Company and An Mega Media banners.
