Houthis Ready to Assist Russian and Chinese Ships in Red Sea, but Will Continue to Target Israeli-Associated Ships

The Houthis are ready to help Russian and Chinese ships pass through the Red Sea. But Ansar Allah will continue to attack ships that may be associated with Israel. Muhammad al-Buheiti, a member of the Politburo of the Yemeni movement, told Izvestia about this.

“As for all other countries, including Russia and China, their shipping in the region is not threatened. Moreover, we are ready to ensure the safety of the passage of their ships in the Red Sea, because free navigation plays a significant role for our country,” said the Ansar Allah representative.

According to him, Israeli ships or those in any way connected with Israel will not have the slightest opportunity to pass through the Red Sea: “Attacks on them will continue.”

The Houthi representative noted that Ansar Allah does not pursue the goal of capturing or sinking this or that sea vessel.

“Our goal is to raise the economic costs for the Jewish state to stop the carnage in Gaza. If the crews of the ships that came under our fire had not ignored our warning signals and changed their direction, the further escalation that the American side caused in the interests of protecting Israel could have been avoided,” said Muhammad al-Buhaiti.

Since October, when Israel launched an operation in the Gaza Strip after Hamas, which previously attacked the country and took hostages, the Houthis have been shelling ships in the Red Sea. In response, the US has created a maritime coalition to protect shipping and is launching strikes into Yemen itself. The Houthis, meanwhile, continue their attacks and yesterday tried to hit the Chem Ranger tanker, owned by an American company, with missiles.

The Houthi attacks have led to major container shipping companies now detouring around Africa. After the escalation of the situation, most of the tankers of Western companies and ships carrying LNG, including Yamal gas, follow the same path.

At the same time, as reported EADaily , the shadow fleet continues to transport oil from Russian ports to Asia along the shortest route – through the Suez Canal and the Red Sea. Earlier it was reported that the missiles could have accidentally hit two tankers, Sai Baba and Khalissa, but they continued on their way. The Houthis said on Sai Baba that the Americans tried to shoot down their reconnaissance drone and a missile fired from a frigate exploded near the tanker.
