Houthi Reject US Ceasefire Offer

SANAA – Attempts to end the conflict on Yaman hit a stalemate after the rebel group Houthi rejected the peace proposal United States of America (AS).

Houthi spokesman Mohamed Abdelsalam told Almasirah TV that America’s proposal for a national ceasefire was meaningless and represented the vision of the Saudis and the United Nations.

“The American proposal does not include stopping firing or stopping the siege, and it will lead to resuming the blockade,” the spokesman added. Arab News, Saturday (13/3/2021).

Earlier, US Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking said the Iranian-backed militia was prioritizing a military campaign to take Marib over stopping the war and transferring aid to Yemenis.

“Tragically and somewhat confusing to me, it seems that the Houthis are prioritizing the military campaign in Marib,” Lenderking said in an online forum.

Lenderking said the leadership of Saudi Arabia gave full support to the US pupaya to end the war in Yemen.

He urged the Houthi to respond to the “good plans” for a national ceasefire in Yemen that have been submitted to them.
