Houston Rockets sends Usman Garuba to Development League

New setback for Usman Garuba in the NBA. The Houston Rockets have sent the Spanish international to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, their affiliate in the Development League (G-League). His debut in this championship could take place next Saturday against the Capitanes of Mexico City.

This does not mean that Garuba will not return to the discipline of the first team shortly. It is simply the policy of championship teams to send their players to their subsidiary to give them more chances for a couple of games and then claim them again.

The Real Madrid youth squad was drafted by the Texas franchise this summer in 23rd place in the first round, but has not had many opportunities: He has only participated in 7 of the 14 games that the Rockets have played. He has never been a starter and his role has been residual with only 6.4 minutes on average, usually those of the garbage with the sentenced matches. Average 1.7 points and 2.6 rebounds with maximums of 5 and 6, respectively. Both were obtained in the last game against Memphis Grizzlies, where he was measured against the other Spanish debutant in the NBA, Santi Aldama.

Houston is not going through a good time. The Rockets are last in the Western Conference with a record of 1-13, the worst in the entire North American League. They are a young and rebuilding team after the departure of James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets. With the Beard they were always in the playoffs, they even came to compete face to face with the best Golden State Warriors. However, in just a year and a half they have racked up 18 wins and 68 losses with Stephen Silas on the bench.
