Houston mobilizes to help victims of Hurricane Milton in Florida – NBC Houston

HOUSTON – Several organizations, private companies, and residents of the Space City are joining forces to help the victims of the devastating hurricanes Helene and Milton that have left massive devastation after passing through Florida in recent days.

The Astros Foundation and Cotton Holdings have announced two supply drives on October 10 and 11 in the Houston area. These events will take place in Sugar Land and Minute Maid Park in Houston, with the aim of collecting essential items for affected communities.

In addition to the collections, the Salvation Army has deployed 17 volunteers from Houston to support the most damaged areas, providing hot meals, water and emotional assistance to survivors.

Supply drives will take place on October 10 at Constellation Field, Sugar Land, and October 11 at Minute Maid Park. Among the most needed items are generators, non-perishable food, cleaning supplies and pet food. Cotton Holdings, in addition to organizing volunteers, has made a monetary donation to relief efforts, and the company Crane Freight will be responsible for transporting supplies to affected areas, in collaboration with organizations such as Cajun Navy and Loving Foods.

The Salvation Army, which is leading a large-scale response effort, has more than 68 disaster response units working in six states affected by Hurricane Helene.
