Housing Starts in the US Decline by 0.8% in March, But Remain Higher than Expected.

(CercleFinance.com) – The Commerce Department reports a 0.8% decline in housing starts in the United States in March, to 1,420,000 at an annualized rate, a level which nevertheless remains higher than economists’ expectations .

Building permits for US housing – supposed to prefigure future housing starts – fell by 8.8%, to 1,413,000 at an annualized rate in March, thus slightly missing the market consensus.
