– When the fire brigade arrives at the scene, they quickly become aware that the person in the house has passed away with death.
That is what the police task leader Geir Petter Nedregård says.
At 6.30 pm on Wednesday, the emergency services received a report of a fire in a detached house in Vestfossen.
– A family member of the deceased came to the house. Sees that there is a lot of smoke, realizes that there is a fire and calls for help. The person in question sees that the person in the house is dead, but there is so much smoke that the person in question has to pull out, says Nedregård.
Nedregård says that ambulance personnel first arrived at the scene. Due to the strong smoke development, they had to wait to enter the home until the fire brigade had arrived and started extinguishing work.
Technical and tactical investigations
The fire brigade quickly got control of the fire. Exactly where in the house it burned and what started the fire, the police can not yet say anything about.

– We interrogate people on the spot. We are questioning the person who arrived at the place here. And we interrogate people who have been nearby, says Nedregård.
Technical investigations will be carried out when the fire site has “ventilated and there are suitable working conditions”.
– It will not be taken today, the police chief of operations concludes.
The next of kin of the deceased have been notified, the police stated at 19.48.
