After her rule short term rental (Airbnb) and the housing crisis that has arisen a rally and protest march is organized and held on Saturday by the Movement for the Right to Housing, participating in the European Action Week on Housing and the City.
The “Neighborhoods for the Right to Housing” collective issued a press release in which they state their positions and describe their action:
We have all experienced the loss of a home, either our own or that of our friends and relatives. We have lost our homes, our neighborhoods, our base, as residents are displaced and neighborhoods disintegrate. This is why we are gathering on Saturday April 6th at Thisio to protest by doing a:
“TRANSFER” PROTEST
Bring your box! (we mean it)
It will be a symbolic move since we are thrown out of our homes, our neighborhoods. Bring a box, a suitcase, something to symbolize moving, and come together to cry out about the housing and neighborhoods that are being stolen from us
Shelter for all
We are the “Neighborhoods for the Right to Housing” group, a multi-collegiate initiative of individuals, groups and movements that have come together to take action on the issue of housing. We started from central neighborhoods of Athens in February 2024. We seek to create a stable coordination platform of groups from different neighborhoods and cities, with the aim of an open and massive movement for the right to housing and free spaces.
