The housing association Schifffahrt Hafen Rostock receives a loan worth millions to convert gas heating systems to district heating. The Ministry of Construction announced on Sunday in Schwerin that 1.7 million euros were available from the housing modernization program. The loan is interest-free and a quarter of it does not have to be repaid.

According to the information, the cooperative wants to use the money to modernize 217 apartments on Gerüstbauerring, in an eleven-storey block of flats from 1983. The construction work should be completed by the end of 2024.
“With our program, which we have adapted to current developments this year, we are helping to ensure socially acceptable housing costs,” commented Building Minister Christian level (SPD).
