Houses have sunk on Romerike

The police received a message on Friday night from the municipality that a house and a garage have sunk in the terrain, writes Romerikes Blad.

The ground on the site must be of quick clay.

– Geologists are on their way to assess the area. At present, the police and fire brigade are evacuating some houses in the area for security reasons, says operations manager Ronny Samuelsen to Dagbladet.

Half a meter

The operations manager states that the house and garage have sunk half a meter. He does not yet know if there is a danger to other houses in the area.

All emergency services are in place, including a police helicopter that will get an overview of the situation. The police also state that the road is blocked off until an assessment from geologists has been made.

The police were first notified of the incident from Lillestrøm municipality at 17.51. Dagbladet’s reporter on the spot states that there are many spectators in the area.

– Declined for several years

Alan Mohammed (22) and Kaled Sadik (47) are among those who have been told to evacuate. They live in one section of the semi-detached house that has now sunk into the terrain.

– For several years we have seen that the garden has sunk up to half a meter. Today, the neighbor notified the municipality, which came to investigate, says Alan Mohammed to Dagbladet.

– After they had investigated, the police and the other emergency services arrived, and we had to evacuate, says Mohammed, who suspects that construction work may have affected the ground.

The household has not yet been told where they will sleep tonight.

They remain calm, but have the Gjerdrum landslide in mind, they say.

Accommodation at school

The police task force leader Ivar Myrbø estimates that 18-20 households were evacuated on Friday night.

– They will be accommodated at Skjetten school, Myrbø says to Dagbladet and adds:

– We are awaiting the geologists’ investigations. We do not know how long it will take, and when people can move back home, he says.

At 20 o’clock, the fire brigade’s large black drone is right inside the barrier.

– We waited for the geologists to come immediately. We will film the area according to their instructions, Morten Thoresen, operations manager in the fire service, explains to Dagbladet.
