The Soest fire brigade was in the night between Saturday and Sunday around 1:45 am with several units to put out a raging fire in an apartment on the Veldeplantsoen. The resident of the burning house was already outside upon arrival. The fire has now been extinguished.
The surrounding houses have been temporarily evacuated. After measurements by the fire brigade, almost all of them were released again. Third and fourth floor residents will be housed elsewhere.
The occupant of the building where the fire started was examined by paramedics due to smoke inhalation. Firefighters also removed a dog from the house and handed him over to the animal ambulance.
The Utrecht security region spokesman says it is not yet clear how the fire could have started.
