(New York = Yonhap News) Correspondent Il-Hwan Ko = The new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccination has begun in the United States, but companies are predicting that the telecommuting culture will continue.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 27th (local time) that US consumer goods producers are increasing their investments in the production of products related to working from home.
Food company Kraft Heinz decided to expand its lunch menu production facility where telecommuters can easily cook at home.
Earlier, Kraft Heinz produced 20% more Mac and Cheese and Philadelphia Cream Cheese as demand for simple lunch at home increased after the Corona 19 crisis.
“There has been no change in the production of these products for a long time,” said Kraft Heinz. “Now we plan to increase production.”
Kimberly-Clark, a manufacturer of diapers and tissue paper, is working on converting a factory that manufactures office tissues into a factory that manufactures household tissues.
From the perspective of a company, converting an office tissue making machine into a household tissue making machine is a big construction that costs a lot of money.
This is because in order to manufacture thin and practically manufactured office tissues for home use, the raw materials must be input differently.
However, Kimberly-Clark is renovating some of its factories in Alabama, with the judgment that even if the Corona 19 crisis is over, the culture of working from home will not change at once.
Procter & Gamble (P&G) plans to develop and sell beard care products in addition to various shaving products for men.
This measure takes into account the fact that male workers working from home tend to care for their faces at the level of trimming their beards rather than shaving them completely.
The WSJ analyzed that the result is that millions of workers are currently working from home, and many companies have decided to allow telecommuting even if office work resumes.
However, not a few companies expect their sales to rise when office work resumes.
“People will want a clean and hygienic work space when work resumes,” said Linda Rendle, CEO of Clorox, a disinfectant producer.
