WASHINGTON (Reuters) – US consumer sentiment improved more than expected in April, final results from the University of Michigan’s monthly survey show on Friday.
Its confidence index rose to 88.3 from 84.9 in March and an initial estimate of 86.5. Economists and analysts polled by Reuters on average forecast a figure of 87.4.
The component of consumers’ judgment on their current situation increased to 97.2, in line with the first estimate, from 93.0 the previous month.
The outlook advanced to 82.7. The first estimate put it at 79.7.
