Walls of residents’ houses on Jalan Ayub, West Pejaten, Sunday market, South Jakarta collapsed and hit another house, Saturday (16/3). One family became a victim and was taken to hospital.
Head of the South Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-Department, Syamsul Huda, said that his party received the report early Saturday morning and immediately went to the location for evacuation.
He said the collapsed wall of the house fell on a sleeping family.
“The taller wall of the neighboring house fell on Mr. Suyoto’s house, causing Mr. Suyoto’s room to be destroyed, and hitting all of the victim’s family members who were asleep,” said Syamsul in a written statement, Saturday.
He said that the Fire Department and related agencies then evacuated the victims who were hit by the rubble.
There were four victims as a result of the incident. The injured victim was taken to Jati Padang Regional Hospital for treatment.
“Hanif (19 years old) had abrasions on his right leg, safe condition. Suyoto (43 years old) had wounds on the temple of his right leg, safe condition, was taken to Jati Padang Regional Hospital. Harmini (44 years old) was safe condition. Melisa (20 years old) had bleeding wounds in the right ear, taken to Jati Padang Regional Hospital,” he said.
Syamsul did not explain the cause of the wall collapse. He only said that the loss due to the incident reached IDR 150 million.
