23,000 Russian soldiers have been killed since the start of the war, President Zelensky said in his daily speech. Zelensky also claims that the Russians lost more than 1,000 tanks and another 2,500 other vehicles.
There is much speculation about the number of Russian victims. Moscow has acknowledged that more than a thousand soldiers have been killed, experts estimate many more. An adviser to Zelensky told the Ukrainian news agency Unian that no troop movements from Russia to Ukraine have been visible for four days, but transfers of wounded and killed soldiers from Ukraine to Russia.
Zelensky went on to say in his speech that he still assumes that Russia is gathering extra troops for the battle in eastern Ukraine. He addressed the Russian army with the words: “Any Russian soldier can still save his life. It is better for you to survive in Russia than to die in our country.”
