“I think we should take seriously that these people didn’t feel safe,” Bergkamp said.
Today it was announced that the entire official summit has resigned because they no longer feel safe. The reason is the investigation that is currently underway on the former Speaker of the House: Khadija Arib. Officials say the Arib investigation was “made political”. As a result, protecting the safety of employees took a back seat.
“I don’t care,” current House Speaker Bergkamp said in response. “It’s sad that they didn’t feel safe. The cynical thing is that this happened in a security investigation in the House. All employees should feel safe.”
House Speaker Bergkamp also believes investigations into predecessor Arib should continue. Arib would have led a reign of terror when he was still Speaker of the House. Bergkamp now wants the House to speak out in favor of the continuation. Last week, some groups called for the investigation to be suspended.
