House set on fire in Finnmark

The 110 exchange in Finnmark announced on Twitter late Friday night that a house was on fire in Kjøllefjord. It was reported that the house was on fire.

– There is a danger of smoke development so we encourage people to close windows, says operations manager in Finnmark police district John Kåre Olsen.

Due to strong winds at the site and the risk of spreading, the police chose to evacuate nearby homes.

Just after 01 o’clock on Saturday night, the police inform that the fire brigade is starting to get control of the fire, but that there is still a lot of smoke in the area.

– There is no info that there should be anyone in the house, so it is not something we think is a problem, says operations manager Robin Fure.

Police are working on an on-site investigation. There must be major material damage to the house, and most of the interior has burned up.
