RIYADH, 1st October / WAM / The House of Wisdom in Sharjah signed a cooperation agreement with the King Faisal Center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to organize the “Takween: Science and Creativity” exhibition in the Emirate of Sharjah, starting next December 6 and for a period of three months, with the aim of highlighting rare collectibles from… Historical Islamic manuscripts that highlight the pioneering role of ancient Muslim scholars in preserving human civilization and cognitive sciences in the fields of astronomy, medicine, engineering, mathematics, and zoology.
This came on the sidelines of Prince Turki Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, receiving in his office in Riyadh, Marwa Al-Aqroubi, Executive Director of the House of Wisdom, and her accompanying delegation, in the presence of Princess Maha bint Muhammad Al-Faisal, Secretary-General of the King Faisal Center, and Prince Khalid bin Saud bin Abdullah Al-Faisal, Director. Dara Al Faisal and Ibrahim Al-Deghaither, Assistant to His Highness the Secretary-General of the King Faisal Center.
The agreement was signed by Marwa Al-Aqroubi and Ibrahim Al-Deghaither, and the two sides discussed mechanisms for loaning manuscripts to the House of Wisdom and other topics related to consolidating future cooperation and cultural and knowledge exchange between the two sides.
Under the agreement, the House of Wisdom will loan a number of authentic historical manuscripts owned by the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies in preparation for making them available to the public of Sharjah and the UAE in this exhibition, which is organized for the first time outside the borders of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Marwa Al Aqroubi said, “This agreement embodies the spirit of cooperation and brotherhood that brings together the UAE and the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and it is an important step to enhance cultural and scientific exchange with one of the ancient cultural and scientific centers in the region in order to achieve the vision and aspirations of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler.” Sharjah aims to make Sharjah an incubator city for culture and heritage and introduce young generations to the history of Islamic knowledge, which is full of pioneering achievements and innovations in various sciences and arts.”
She added, “The historical manuscripts hosted by the exhibition constitute an integral part of our nation’s memory and reflect the extent to which Islamic and Arab civilization interacted with other civilizations through the transfer and development of human knowledge. They contain priceless treasures of knowledge and scientific innovations and are a source of inspiration that opens wide horizons of ideas to researchers and scholars.” Research”.
For his part, Ibrahim Al-Deghaither said that this agreement represents an important step in strengthening cooperation between the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies and the House of Wisdom in Sharjah, pointing out that the House of Wisdom’s hosting of the “Takween: Science and Creativity” exhibition would shed light on our ancient Arab-Islamic heritage in the field of Sciences with the aim of highlighting the pioneering role of Arab-Islamic civilization in the field of science and creativity. This cooperation reflects the Center’s commitment to working with parties with a common interest in the field of heritage and science in order to achieve its lofty mission of preserving the Arab-Islamic heritage and enhancing its values.
