Not much is known about the project yet
Those nostalgic for arcades will certainly remember The House of the DeadSega’s iconic horror shooter. For those unfamiliar, this game contributed to redefine the zombie genrebringing mutant creatures that ran to the screen, an innovation for its time. Along with titles like Resident Evilthis series has therefore launched the trend of fast zombiesalso influencing films such as Dawn of the Dead, di Zack Snyder, e World War Z, by Marc Forster.
After five chapters main e two adaptations films not too loved by the public, The House of the Dead will therefore return to the screens thanks to the director Paul W.S. Andersonknown for his work on Mortal Kombat, Monster Hunter and several films in the series Resident Evil.
Anderson decided to base this new project on the third chapter of the saga. For those unfamiliar, the game was centered around the story of Lisa Rogandesperately searching for his missing father, and of Daniel Curienson of the scientist who unleashed the mutant pandemic. At the center of the plot there is, therefore, a family plot surrounded by claustrophobic atmospheres and moments of high tension.

What can we expect?
In collaboration with Sega and the manufacturer Toru NakaharaAnderson assured that the film will be accessible to all. The film, in fact, will avoid complex references to the mythology of the series. The goal is to drag viewers into a immersive and dynamic journeyjust like it happened in the arcade versions.
“It will be a real-time experience, with the protagonists having only 90 minutes to find a way out of a disturbing haunted structure,” explained Anderson. The narrative and the action will take place, in fact, without pausesoffering audiences a race against time in a thrilling environment, among fast, intelligent and mutant creatures capable of setting traps.
As in the game, the creatures that the protagonists will face they are not the classic zombies, slow and awkward, but lethal mutants, with details reminiscent of the Japanese designinspired by manga and films such as Tetsuo: The Iron Man. In this new interpretation, the Dr. Curien — who in the story of the video game is the creator of these creatures — continues to control them even after death, personified in the villain The Wheel of Destiny, one of the figures inspired by tarot cards, like The Magician and Death.
Filming is scheduled to begin by mid-2025but no cast details are yet known. Some rumors, however, hypothesize a possible involvement of Milla Jovovich, historic face of Resident Evil.
With this in mind, fans of horror and high-adrenaline adventures can begin to prepare for the return of one of the most beloved horror franchises of the history of video games. Are you ready to relive the experience of a real waking nightmare?
