The House of Representatives will be able to meet again from 20 April. This is done in order to hold more debates in corona time. The room is spacious, so it is better to take into account the rule of keeping 1.5 meters apart.
Recently there has been a lot of grumbling in the House of Representatives that few public debates were held because of corona. Much is done in writing, not openly. It has now been decided to approach this differently. In addition to the plenary hall, these will be held in the Thorbeckezaal, Troelstrazaal and the Oude Zaal.
“A good balance has been sought between the continuity of the parliamentary process and the care for the health of MPs, staff and journalists,” said Chamber President Arib. “There will be more public debates, so that MPs can exercise their controlling and co-legislative roles and put issues that they consider necessary and urgent.”
