The prosecutor, who intends to indict former US President Donald Trump, was summoned to a conversation in the House of Representatives of Congress. The corresponding letter from the Republican congressmen was published today, March 20.
Letter addressed to the District Attorney in New York Alvin Bragg.
“You have been reported to be about to commit an unprecedented abuse of power and indict a former U.S. President, a candidate in a future election… If these reports are true, your actions will undermine confidence in the equal application of justice and could become interference in the course of the 2024 election campaign. In light of the gravity of the consequences of your actions, we await your testimony on what appears to be a politically motivated decision.” — said in a letter from legislators.
The document was signed by the heads of the House Judiciary Committee, as well as the oversight and administration committees.
As reported EADaily On March 18, former US President Donald Trump said that he could be detained as part of a criminal investigation filed against him by the Manhattan prosecutor’s office. In this regard, the Republican leader called on his supporters to protest. He distributed his appeal through his own social network Truth Social.
Possible charges against the former American leader are related to the investigation of the story with a porn actress Stormy Daniels, who was allegedly paid a large sum to keep quiet about her alleged affair with Trump. The ex-president himself denies any connection with Daniels and any illegal actions on his part. He refused to testify to a jury that is scheduled to decide on March 21 whether to press charges against him.
