Vice Chairman Commission II DPR RI NasDem Faction Saan Mustopa responds to Spokesperson for the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar PandjaitanJodi Mahardi, who called big data a question election postponement internal property. Saan encouraged Luhut to open the data because it had been submitted to the public sphere.

“About big data, yes, of course the first one because it has been disclosed to the public and has been used as an argument to conduct a discourse regarding the postponement of the election or 3 periods, yes. Of course it must be opened to the public,” said Saan Mustopa to reporters, Tuesday (5/4). /2022).

“So you can’t, for example, that’s the term, keep it a secret. Because it has entered the public sphere,” he added.

Furthermore, he commented on Luhut who collected data on the postponement of the election with a political position as Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. He assessed that data matters related to elections should be carried out by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md.

“Yes, it’s better for big data related to elections, it’s better if it is given to the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. Because that’s the domain,” he said.

He guessed Luhut have an interest in processing big data on the postponement of the election. For example, he said, related to investment interests.

“Perhaps Pak Luhut has other interests. Not only for the sake of the election but also related to investment, and so on. Because that’s also related,” he continued.

As previously reported, the Spokesperson for Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Jodi Mahardi, responded to Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) regarding the request to open big data ‘delaying the 2024 election.’ According to him, the data is not government data, but Luhut’s internal data.

“That’s not government data. How come Pak Luhut internally processed the data,” said Jodi when contacted, Sunday (3/4).

According to Jodi, Luhut has the right to disclose or not the data. Because big data, he said, does not use the government budget.

“It doesn’t use the government’s budget or resources. It’s up to Pak Luhut whether to open it or not,” he said.
