House of Education, Culture and Generations was opened

GALLNEUKIRCHEN. The house of education, culture and generations was opened at the end of October.

As early as 2011, on the initiative of Mayor Gisela Gabauer, the house was acquired by the Bellak family with a majority decision by the municipal council. A decision that, according to the municipality, proved to be the right one in the following years. During the construction and renovation work, the St. Josef and St. Martin kindergartens were housed on site.

Renovate or tear down

When preparing for the future use of the building, however, the first question arose whether an old building should be renovated or demolished. The municipality finally commissioned Upper Austria Wohnbau as general contractor with Ferdinand Hochleitner at the helm for the renovation. “The aim of the renovation was that the building, as its name suggests, should be a meeting center for the citizens of the city of Gallneukirchen, a milestone in urban development,” said Gabauer.

Busy center

The center was finally revitalized with a lot of voluntary commitment: Not only the public parish library is housed on site, but also the senior citizens ‘association, the pensioners’ association and the spectrum association. With the latter, the mother counseling and the social initiative in the context of child and youth welfare found a new home. “Another project that could be implemented and completed for the citizens of our city through the cooperation of all parliamentary groups in the local council,” said the mayor. The building was then blessed in ecumenical unity by Pastor Klaus Dopler and Pastor Günter Wagner.
