House Music & Deep House 08.2024 – new electronic songs

Yes, how can it be that the summer months always pass us by so quickly? Because another month has passed and we are in September. But before we really plunge into the new season, we want to look back at the hot August and share with you which songs in terms of house music and deep house have been playing on repeat in our editorial office.

Maybe there’s a song or two that you can add to your playlists. If you’ve discovered any releases from August that you’d like to share with us and other readers, we’d be delighted if you posted them in the comments.

But now enough of the words, time for music, so let’s get started!

More information

Under the label Voyage Direct, DJ and producer Tom Trago presents Dutch artists and their productions. If you follow our series, you’ll know that we’re fans of Tom Trago and this label. It’s been quiet for a long time, but now there’s a new release, “In Your Eyes,” and from Dexter, one of the usual suspects on this label, who also attracted attention with “Junofest” and “Not the Only One” in 2010. The song begins with expansive drums supported by a beautiful pad that slowly moves to the foreground over the next few bars and is then overlaid by synthesizer sounds. The mood quickly builds and as the vocals begin, the bassline sounds too; the short, accentuated beats create a wonderfully powerful and relaxed melody that carries us through the song. Not the classic house music number per se, but something of our own, but we mean that in a positive way.

Platz 2: Every Morning – Edd – Helix Records

More information

If you’re looking for a house music track that’s instantly catchy, you’ll definitely find it in “Every Morning”. The fast piano has a wonderful groove. The vocals sounded familiar to us and yes, we weren’t mistaken, because this speech by Kelly Price was also used by Kanye West in the song “Low Lights”.
But in our opinion, Edd does an even better job of putting the music around it.
The bassline stays in the background, the drums are classic, have a good punch, but besides the mentioned vocals, it is simply this insane piano phrase that makes this song and has made us listen to the song again and again.

Platz 3: Can’t You See – geods sorèd – Records DK

More information

If you’re looking for a quieter number, you might find it in “Can’t You See”. The song is very understated and sets accents in the right places. Here is a cool interpretation of the song “All Good?” by De La Soul and Chaka Khan. The number just grooves. Synth chords are quickly supported by very sharp hi-hats and the bassline then rolls smoothly behind.

The vocals are unmistakable and will put a smile on your face. What we really like is that they don’t just rely on the sample, but really create something of their own. You can start your evening relaxed and easy with this release.

Platz 4: Promise – Maur – Good Company Records

More information

The next house music release is more energetic. With “Promise” we get a charged number that is accompanied by gentle string passages. The vocals fit wonderfully into the mix and the build-up to the drop with a beautiful synth arpeggio draws you into the song. This release has a lot of momentum, but fortunately doesn’t seem chaotic or messy. This can heat up any party a little more. Powerful and beautiful, this track puts a big grin on our faces every time we listen to it. The only problem? For our taste, this house music track could be a little longer!

Platz 5: For The Weekend – Ferreck Dawn, Maverick Sabre, New Machine – Defected Records Limited

More information

Defected Records is of course an integral part of the electronic and house music scene, and with Ferreck Dawn you have an extremely experienced producer and DJ who has been delighting audiences for years. This combination alone is enough for a good release. Then there is the wonderful voice of singer Maverick Sabre. We know him from his album “Lonely Are The Brave”, which is in a completely different genre. We really like the artist’s development and the mix that led to a release on the house music label Defected Records puts us in a damn good mood. “For The Weekend” is a track that is rather reserved, but we like that. It doesn’t always have to be forward-looking. But that doesn’t mean that the song is lame. Listen for yourself, we are firmly convinced that the track fits into many sets.

Platz 6: No Faith, No Dreams – Steve Bug, Hervé Solar – Sublease Music

More information

Steve Bug is a name that needs no introduction. A big name in the scene, he has been making a name for himself as both a DJ and a producer for years. Anyone who listens to his latest release will know why.

With “No Faith, No Dreams” we have an incredibly cool number. Perfect for the moment when the club doors open and people come in. Not classic house music, but reserved, unobtrusive and cool. No superfluous drums buzzing around everywhere. No, strict and clear, just like the rest of the elements. The synths are beautifully dubbed and the tape delay works wonderfully.

With the simple but laid-back bassline, you can’t help but groove along. That’s how it should be. The vocals support the synth stabs very well and the result is a really great number.

House Music & Deep House 08.2024 - New electronic songs 7th place: Roberta Johnson - CINTHIE - Live at Robert Johnson

Legendary track for a legendary club?

More information

If you are looking for classic house music, we highly recommend the latest release from CINTHIE. We start with “Roberta Johnson” with house drums that culminate in beautiful, fast piano stabs. The shaker ecstasy takes us full steam ahead and we look forward to the cymbals preparing us for the next phrase. Classical singing then takes us further on the journey. In keeping with the legendary club, on whose label this release was of course also released. The snare roll then prepares us for the drop and we finally look forward to our beloved 4/4 bass drum again. This number draws everyone out of their shell. This is exactly how we love our house music. Just good mood and dancing until you can’t anymore.

8th place: Happy Fun – Niconé, David Hasert – Danze

More information

Of course we don’t just want to present you house music, but also a deep house track. With “Happy Fun” we have a great release from the scene’s greats Niconé and David Hasert. Drums that also have a cowbell in them are a challenge to master. A pulsating bassline paired with a beautiful piano always gives us the melancholy we want so much. The vocals fit perfectly into this soundscape. The arrangement with vocal snippets that alternate with the actual vocal phrase keeps everything fresh. The synthesizer sound, which drives you on with a continuous arpeggio, is just perfect. Subtle yet energetic, that’s something you have to master.

More information

Anyone looking for a relaxed house music number to reminisce about summer will definitely find it in “Want You”. Despite the short playing time, the song takes us on a little journey. Beautiful piano chords paired with laid-back house music drums immediately captivate you and you can hardly stay still in your seat. The release definitely fits in well with the rest of the catalog of DJ A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold label, which of course also released songs like “Barbara Streisand”. “Want You” does everything right that we expect from a house music song to start a relaxed evening on the dance floor with a good beat.

That’s it for our small selection of songs that were released last August 2024 and that we liked. Of course, we hope that we have also met your taste a little! We look forward to presenting you our September collection next month.
